Google Changes Google My Business To 2pac!

Google now offer paid advertising to feature st number 1 on Google My Business!

As you may be aware, Google My Business consisted of 3 place listings below the map. These 3 listings are normally achieved by organic methods, but Google announced at the recent SMX Event on June 21st 2016 that paid advertising was coming to the Google 3 Pack!

GoogleMyBusinessDevonUK_Changes to the 3Pack_It allows us to be witty and 100% cooler than we really are to call it a 2pac like the young people do, but it has serious connotations as the 3 pack space has beed reduced by 33%.

Now, only 2 Google My Business listings will be shown and at the top will be a PAID advert.

No one is quite sure yet when they will start showing but it will happen – soon!

Does this affect your business?

You bet your sweet bippy!

This change mean that any business can become featured in the local pack just by paying their way to get there. So they claim the number 1 spot rather than the best organic search option.

The results will now show the business who pays for a similar keyword phrase but really is not local to you – and therefore not so relevant.

No matter that you are a good organisation, or have set up your Google My Business listing properly, and have optimised it for searches, you will not be number 1 unless you pay for Google Ads.

The problem is that the business who pays to be at the number 1  slot does not build up any “Google Love!” When the budget runs out the Ads will disappear from the listing and enquiries will stop.GoogleMyBusinessDevon_3pack2pack2pac_searchlisting

People may also become “ad-blind”. They get so used to the Ads just like they do already to a certain extent with regular Google Ads (which show at the top and the right hand side of the page for search results).

Many people alreadty ignore the paid Ads as they are wise to the poor relevancy of many Ad listings. So they skip through to the organic listings instead.

So it’s more important than ever that you get your Google My Business in place ASAP.

That “digital real estate” below the map is about to become very expensive, so claiming place 2 and 3 is going to become harder in the future.

The Same Pic Every Day – Social Media Engagement?

Here’s a question? What do Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Barry Chuckle have in common?

One Picture…and not even a good one!

Would you like your Facebook page to have 13,613 Likes with the minimum of effort?

Stick with me, this isn’t a joke, and it’s not some get rich quick post – honest!

What about having 181,987 Likes or even 217,532?

All you have to do is post the SAME picture EVERY DAY – and absolutely nothing else! Really!

Whether they do or not is another story, but there are some great lessons here on what make a great Facebook page and what gets Likes and Shares. These sites are clearly not about variety! They’re not about juicy gossip or link-baiting, or even quality images!

They focus on a niche and on what people find funny or quirky.

It’s a variation of ANY cats on the internet pics which spread across the globe – and it works. The Cool Cat in the red pinstripe was my Profile pic on Facebook for many months. Because. It’s a cat!

As I said on the post at that time “It’s cats, with clothes. Like humans. Except they have sunglasses on. Like people. But they’re not people, see. They’re cats.” Welcome to my mind! 😀

The comments and the sub memes are brilliant and worth reading on these “The Same Photo of….Every Day” pages. People who are Liking and Sharing are providing more CONTENT which also gets Likes and Shares.

So the love spreads.

My finger is seriously hovering over the Like button – especially on the Jeff Goldblum page. Some of the sub memes on there are funny. Not CAT funny, but funny.

So, who has the most Likes? Can you guess?

Jeff Goldblum has 181,987, Jim Carrey has 217,532, and Barry Chuckle with the same low res pic every day has 13,613.

In the past 7 days one IP address in Russia has launched 2,036,508 attacks, attacking 32,091 unique websites! The next highest attacking IP address is responsible for 468,661 attacks, so this IP is head and shoulders above everyone else!

wordpresswebsitesecurity_barnstapledevon97% of attacks from this IP address tried to access and download the wp-config.php file using a wide range of download vulnerabilities in both plugins and themes. None of our plugins or themes have been attacked!

If you have a website by Mysitemyway they are all listed with vulnerabilities as some of these themes have not been updated in over a year.
